The major in English provides students with a strong liberal arts preparation for a
variety of careers including education, business, and the media. It is also
appropriate for pre-seminary and pre-law students. This major requires 30 semester
hours beyond English Literature. English minors take both semesters of English
Literature or both semesters of American Literature and an additional 12 semester hours of
electives selected from literature courses with an ENGL prefix.
