Abraham Weiss has been Principal Bassoonist with the Rochester
Philharmonic since 1970.  He studied with Sol
Schoenbach at the Curtis Institute of Music, and with Norman Herzberg.

Mr. Weiss has  has given master classes at universities around the country,
including Eastman School of Music, University of Michigan, University
of Southern California, the State University of New York at Potsdam
and Fredonia and Ithaca College.

An avid chamber musician, he has perfromed at the Bravo Chamber Festival in Vail, Colorado, and with the Society for Chamber Music in Rochester.   He is featured along with his brother David (former principal Oboist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic), and his sister Dawn, (former principal Flutist with the Oregon Symphony) on a Crystal Records album Weiss Family Woodwinds.   

He has been a frequent performer and lecturer at International Double Reed Society conventions.
