1. Are the homework assignments due at the session in which they are assigned, or at the following session?

Homework assignments are due the week after the class session in which they are assigned.

Preparatory assignments are to be done before the class session.

If you are a computer whiz, thoroughly familiar with your spreadsheet program, and if you have a version which supports all of the statistical and graphing functions used in this course, you may try. However, the instructor will be using only Excel in class, and will not necessarily be familiar with the intricacies of other programs.

There are lots of data sets available on the World Wide Web. For example, you can search the General Social Survey (GSS) data of the National Opinion Research Center (NORC) or the National Opinion Registry. You should look at Statistics in the World Lecture Hall for some good links, as well.

Databases for federal government agencies are linked to this index page, providing statistics for agriculture, education, economics, labor, transportation, and much more.

A Web list for this course must include an address for the American Statistical Association, of course.
