![]() Would you like the opportunity to mentor a 7th or 8th grader from the local community? Each year, college student Big Brother/Big Sisters serve as role models and mentors to local middle school students who are eager to see what college is like. Volunteers are given the contact information of their Little Brother/Sister and are encouraged to keep regular contact with them throughout the school year, via email, letters and phone calls. Planned visits to the college will be arranged and there are also opportunities to get together after school during the week. This program is currently in place in two local schools with hopes to continue to expand throughout the county. ![]() Quotes from Previous Volunteers “Being able to just hang out and have fun with a little bro, to just be able to be a friend to him. I feel that the program provided good opportunities and structure with the kids. I would love to be a big brother again next year.” ~Matthew Tedeschi, Big Brother “The best part about being a big sister was the relationship that I was able to start to develop with the kids. I am really grateful for the chance to make a difference, even if it was only slightly, in someone’s life. This helped me to feel like I was giving back slightly to the program.” ~Joy Bittner, Big Sister “I enjoyed meeting someone and hanging out with them...no hard parts just being yourself and trying to help someone else out!! It was fun to have a younger sister because I don't have one!!” ~Jessica Melfi, Big Sister To volunteer go to the Be a Volunteer page |
