Wake! Awake for Night is Flying

Wake, Awake for Night is Flying! is a celebration of the Advent and Christmas seasons, the concert will focus on the emotional journey surrounding Christmas, from the anticipation of the birth of Christ, through joy and exuberance of Christmas day.  Liturgical readings and choral music will usher in the season of our Savior.  Composers Bach, Britten, Mendelssohn, Palestrina, and Tschesnokoff were chosen to illuminate the spirit of the season.  The Greatbatch School of Music at Houghton College invites you to experience the season through music and meditations that will explore the visceral emotions of the advent season- awaiting the coming of our Lord, His birth, and our reaction to this good news as angels bring the message full of glory of that humble nativity, and we who hear find strength in our faith in the living Christ.

The Greatbatch School of Music at Houghton College will present the Yuletide Celebration in two separate venues this Christmas season.

Williamsville

The 2004 Yuletide Celebration Wake! Awake for Night is Flying, will be held on December 5th at Randall Baptist Church in Williamsville, NY.  The concert  will be presented at 6:00.  A freewill offering will be taken at the door.

John & Charles Wesley Chapel

The campus Yuletide Celebration will be held December 10 & 11. 

In addition to the concert, the choral area will provide an opportunity for you to join in fellowship while helping to ensure the quality of the Houghton College Choral Department.  A benefit dessert will take place following each of the two performances.  We will hold a fine desert experience in the Greatbatch School of Music atrium with evening music provided by the Chamber Singers and the Houghton College String Quartet.  Complete this evening of exceptional music with fellowship, food, and celebration held in a beautiful space artistically presented.  All proceeds from this benefit will be applied to help the College Choir students pay for the upcoming tours.  Seating for the evening desert is extremely limited.  For tickets, please fill out the reservation form and return it no latter than December 3 to ensure your seat.
