Art Camp
June 29-July 4, 2008
This
summer, students from near and far will come to Houghton College to learn more
about art, design and themselves in an atmosphere of creative excellence.
Our one-week summer intensive art camp
builds a solid foundation in formal elements, skills and visual concepts.
No specific experience is
required before coming to camp. During Camp
you will develop technical skills, a language for talking about
images, and the ability to think critically about your art work. This course is
designed for people who may be completely new to art, are experienced artists.
You do not need to have previous experience, or worry that you have "no talent."
The assignments will stimulate participants to develop their skills and
concepts.
Art Camp is taught by four Professors from the
Houghton College Art Faculty. These faculty have a combined 65+ years of
teaching experience! The instruction will be augmented with interaction between
campers and art camp counselors who are emerging artists from the Houghton
student body.
Our week long camp ends with an exhibition
of the student works in the Chapel gallery, including a reception for the
students, friends, family and fellow campers.
