- Financial Aid Office Customer Service Goals
Houghton College, through efforts of the Financial Aid Office, strives to make attendance possible for every accepted student. All students are urged to consult with the aid counselors about particular situations regarding funding.
Houghton is a participating member of the College Scholarship Service (CSS) and uses the Service's Financial Aid Form (FAF) to assist in determining a student's need.
Any student who wishes to be considered for aid funds administered by Houghton College must submit annually a copy of the FAF to the College Scholarship Service, listing Houghton College as a recipient, and must also obtain and complete a Houghton College Student Financial Aid Application. Both the FAF and the college form are available in the financial aid office after January 1.
The student employment program at Houghton College enables students to earn money which will help them pay a portion of their college expenses. It also provides vital services to the college, and it allows students to use their skills to experience different work environments, to explore some career opportunities, to build discipline, and to accumulate references.
All job opportunities are on campus. Students earn minimum wage. Hours
available vary depending on the student's work-study award and availability
of employment (12 hours weekly maximum). Student employment is to be considered
a form of financial aid, therefore, students eligible for the federal college
work-study program are to be given priority in hiring.
