Celtic Women is a select ensemble comprised primarily of music majors who wish to further develop their musical skills. This ensemble is an outgrowth of the Houghton College Women’s Choir and meets Fridays at 2:55 in the recital hall. While it is not required that members of the Celtic Women participate in the Women’s Choir, most do. Founded in the fall of 2009 this ensemble aspires to offer a rigorous musical experience founded in the master-works of the choral repertoire and while providing a voice for modern composers. Celtic Women is proud also to have the opportunity to perform and record new compositions by established and emerging composers from around the world as well as Houghton College faculty and student composers.
