Grace Wong, second prize winner at the Fifth International Harp Contest in Israel and American Harp Society conference opening recitalist in 1987, has been Principal Harpist of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra since 1979. A New York City native, she started playing the harp at the High School of Music and Art. Undergraduate and graduate degrees were earned at Oberlin Conservatory and Manhattan School of Music, respectively. As a soloist, including a debut recital at Carnegie Recital Hall, she has appeared throughout the United States and Canada and has also toured the Far East. She has served as a jury member at the International Harp Contest in Israel and the American String Teachers Association National Solo Competition. She is currently on the faculty of the Hochstein School of Music and Dance and maintains a private studio. She is a specialist in the Salzedo approach.
