Jim Tiller has taught percussion at Houghton College since 1990. A graduate of the University of South Carolina and Eastman School of Music, where he earned his master’s degree in percussion performance and literature, he has studied with John Beck and James Hall. Mr. Tiller is performer and teacher of broad experience. He is currently principal percussionist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, and in addition to his studio work at Houghton is also on the faculty of SUNY- Geneseo. His teaching experience ranges from high schools to the Eastman School. Mr. Tiller has served as a percussionist with Rochester and Binghamton Symphony Orchestras, Opera Theater of Rochester, South Carolina Philharmonic, and is solo player throughout the area.
