MA in World Music with Theology and Intercultural Studies Application Checklist

NOTE: Applications for this program are accepted on a rolling basis. However, because courses are offered only in special May/June sessions each year, prospective students are strongly advised to submit their applications by December 1st for best consideration. Students are also advised to contact the program director, Dr. Mark Hijleh (585.567.9424) to discuss their background and interests prior to applying.

  • The MA in World Music with Theology and Intercultural Studies special application form. To download click here. Please pay special attention to the page in the application detailing degree completion tracks.
  • Application fee ($40), unless received by October 15.
  • Official transcripts of all undergraduate (and graduate, if applicable) coursework.
  • Three letters of reference, submitted using the forms included in the special application form for this degree.
  • A recording demonstrating the applicant’s musical abilities (in any context), along with brief explanatory notes. Alternatively, contact us as soon as possible to arrange a live audition.
  • A brief essay (1-2 typed pages) describing the applicant’s background and interests in music and Christianity, his or her professional goals, and the nature of his or her interests in this degree.
  • Demonstration of basic ability with music notation and recording software, either through transcript evidence of completion of undergraduate coursework requiring the development of such skills or through submission of examples requiring such skills.
  • TOEFL scores for those whose native language is not English.
