As a full time Houghton College student you can get the 2007 Enterprise Version of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, OneNote, Access, Communicator, Groove, and InfoPath) at a dramatically reduced cost. If you do not have Microsoft Office on your computer, in particular Excel, PowerPoint and Word, we would strongly recommend that you order the software as these programs will be needed during your time in P.A.C.E.
Please note that your option for the Microsoft Office Suite is the most recent 2007 version. The P.A.C.E. faculty and staff are still using the 2003 platform. There are some changes with the 2007 version in particular with the default file format which could potentially cause some problems with those using the 2003 platform in opening your files. If you are going to take advantage of this purchase price (which we strongly recommend), please review the instructions on the Student Resources Section of the P.A.C.E. website on how to save your documents to previous versions of Microsoft Office. If you are interested in upgrading your operating system, the newest version is Microsoft Vista. However you need to be very careful about upgrading your operating system. Vista takes an awful lot of memory (RAM) and most computers need to have significant upgrades (disk space, RAM, graphics card, etc) before you can install Vista and have it run correctly. In addition a lot of your software programs may not work. There is a Vista Upgrade advisor that you can download from Microsoft’s website that will let you know if your computer could handle the upgrade. Click Here for more information on the Vista Upgrade advisor and download information from the Microsoft website.
