The ten-day stress program is a demanding experience for  staff as well as participants.  Since one of the goals of the program is to support a community under stress, it is imperative that the staff is able to stand the physical stress of the entire program.

Part 1: Please rate your ability in the following areas.

Part 2:  Essay questions

  1. After reading The STEP Adventure: What is it all About, write a paragraph explaining the differences between process and program.
  2. Why do you want to be a STEP leader?  What benefits do you see for yourself and how can you be a positive addition to the staff?
  3. Evaluate your strengths and share what you feel may be your weaknesses as a STEP leader.

 

For returning STEP leaders only:  Write 1-2 pages on what you learned your past summer of working STEP and why you would like to return as a STEP leader.

Part 3:  Character References

Ask three people (close relatives, roommate, professor, etc.) to write a short paragraph describing you.  Have them send it to: Wilderness Adventures, Houghton College, Houghton NY 14744.  Please list names and phone numbers here:

Part 4: Christian Character and Commitment

Even though part of our funding comes from NYS, STEP is viewed as a mission to Allegany county and surrounding areas. Although you will not be leading Bible studies or openly witnessing, we believe that you have the opportunity to be a positive Christian role model and hopefully you will get a chance to explain your faith and relationship with God.

  • Write a brief explanation of your conversion experience and your current relationship with God.

Wilderness Adventures will provide room, board and salary to STEP leaders during summer trip.
