Van Use Policy
The college seeks to provide transportation at a modest cost for college-sponsored
activities. The vans are in the college transportation pool. Scheduling of vans is done at the Physical Education
Center during the school year and at the Business Office during the summer. The following priorities have been established
for use of the vans: regularly scheduled
inter-collegiate events, academic classes, make-up athletic events,
field trips, and certain other college-sponsored activities.
Procedures
- Van use should be requested
in writing on a "Requisition for College Vehicles" submitted to the appropriate
party (see above).
- Keys, credit cards, insurance
papers, etc. in a packet should be picked up at the P.E. Center or Business
Office as prearranged.
- The "Daily Vehicle (trip) Report"
in the packet should be filled out and returned with the packet at the
conclusion of the trip.
- Vehicles should be refueled
upon return to campus.
- The Athletic Director will prescribe the routing for each inter-collegiate
team trip. Drivers are expected to follow this
routing.
General Policy
- A faculty member, staff member,
or student twenty-one years of age or older acceptable to the Treasurer
should serve as the driver.
- If a second (or third) vehicle
is used, it should follow the vehicle in which the faculty or staff member
is riding with the two vehicles remaining
together throughout the trip.
- If available, vans may be used
for other college-sponsored activities with an acceptable driver.
Exceptions are to be cleared with the Athletic Director during the school
year and the Vice President for Finance during the summer.
The appropriate account will be charged 36 cents per mile for use of
a van. |
