Houghton College, as part of its Educational Technology Initiative (ETI), distributes laptop computers to all incoming first year students. Since this equipment is subject to theft and damage not covered under the manufacturers warranty and the student is financially responsible for such theft or damage, Houghton College recommends that students or their parents procure insurance to cover such loss. Most insurance companies require some form of documented evidence of value in order to provide the necessary coverage. This memo serves as that evidence.
