Installing the Software

You may begin the installation by clicking here.
You will be prompted whether to Open or Save the file.
You will want to click the Open option.
The installation will download and will then ask you if you wish to Run the file.
Click Run.
The softphone should be installed with the default options. There is no need to change any of the installation parameters. Simply click Next until you get to Finish.
Click Finish.
You will be prompted for your product key. Please email telephones@houghton.edu if you need to obtain your product key. You can save yourself typing by copying and then pasting your product key.
Click OK once your product key has been entered.
 

Audio Tuning

The Audio Tuning wizard will open once you have successfully entered your product key.
Click Next to begin Audio Tuning.
You will be prompted to select an audio configuration.
Configure only a headset - you will want to select this configuration if you are plugging in a headset to your computers green-audio and pink-microphone jack.
Configure only a speaker phone device - Not recommended. This configuration uses your attached speakers and microphone to simulate a speaker phone. This configuration works, however, is prone to cause echoing during your conversations.
Configure a speaker phone device and headset - This configuration requires a USB headset or multi-audio adapter. This will be the most common configuration for Houghton users.

Select your configuration and the click Next, then Next again.
You will be prompted to select the sound card to use for headset/handset audio and microphone. Select C-Media if you are using a Multi-Audio Adapter.
Click Next.
Your computer will play a sample sound and will ask you to adjust your volume.
Adjust to a comfortable volume then click Next.
Your computer will start recorded test audio. You will want to read the screen prompts or simply talk while it is recording. You will hear a playback of your recording, if it sounds fine, click Next, if not, adjust the recording volume and try again.
You will need to repeat these steps for your speaker phone device setup. You will want to select SoundMax for your speakers and microphone.
Follow the same instructions you did previously, then click Finish.
