Houghton College P.A.C.E. has increased the use of computerization, and the World Wide Web in the program.  The curriculum is "web-enhanced" and makes use of Internet technology and services to support the distribution of course materials.

There are two driving forces for the use of this technology.  First, and most importantly, individuals in today's work environment must be comfortable with, if not proficient in, the technology that is driving change throughout our world.  Thus, we have constructed parts of the program to require student use of computers and the web.  Secondly, delivering portions of the curriculum over the web increases efficiency for our staff and faculty, and learning value for students.  It allows us to make continuous and immediate improvements in the curriculum without incurring excessive reprinting and handling costs which would ultimately be passed along to the students.  Communication is also improved among students, faculty, and staff as we all use email more widely.

Email and Internet access - May be available through the college in certain areas. Alternatively students can use a local provider or national service like AOL.

Software - Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are minimum requirements. A web browser is required, either Netscape or Internet Explorer are acceptable.  An antivirus package, such as Norton or McAffee is highly recommended.  Significant discounts are available for enrolled students - consult with your academic advisor.

Availability - Prospective students should be able to acquire a computer that will meet all program requirements for less than $1,000.  Check the Sunday paper inserts for offers at national chains such as Office Max, Office Depot or Best Buy
