Syllabus
REQUIREMENTS: Readings:
Students are expected to keep up with assigned readings from scripture
and the commentaries, and be prepared to discuss the readings in class.
Other readings (e.g. short articles) may be assigned as the instructor
thinks appropriate. Students will
not be held accountable for technical information on Greek words, textual
variants, and theories of sources behind the literature--unless
discussed in class or pointed to as important for understanding a passage.
Notebook:
Students should keep notes on each chapter of John’s gospel and letters, from
commentaries and lecture, and any other readings.
Keeping up with these will ensure you are well prepared for exams or
quizzes. Participation &
Preparation for Class. Students must bring a Bible to class; they must be prepared to discuss the day’s
passage, the commentary on it, or their own thoughts. Study questions may be
given from time to time. 5% Quizes & Exams:
Quizes (40%) and one final exam. (25%) Research Paper: (30%). DUE FRIDAY APRIL 12. Schedule:
