David Michael Stith

David has never had a lonely view of the sea - he has had a blossoming stoop in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, a balcony over a quiet pond, a porch overlooking the foothills of Allegany county, a sidewalk in the suburbs, and a propensity for finding beauty where he goes. After graduating with a degree in studio art he moved to Philadelphia in search of a life - he found a stomach bug and a need to leave. He moved to Brooklyn, to finish writing the novels he'd started, and found friends and a job and an urge, all of a sudden, to write music. The urge was strong, and within 3 weeks, he had written and recorded his first set of 15 songs (Ichabod & Apple). At the suggestion of his friends and family, David put aside his writing projects and settled in for a stint in music, bought some recording equipment, found a comfortable place to live in Houghton, NY, and began work on his projects. He is twenty-five years old.

messagecenter said this about Stith's music:

"DM Stith: Ichabod & Apple

In order to not genre-fy this stuff, I'll just say DM Stith writes with an acoustic guitar, a voice, and boatloads of rythmic ideas that take beautiful songs and make them into heartbreaking pieces that could sit sweetly in your ears but rather, tend to jump around in your head with a heartswelling, manic velocity. It's organic music for a digital age that will make you stop, sit, get up and move in ways you didn't move before you heard it."(with a few more comments here)
