He m. 23 October 1844 Jamaica RDC to Margaret Eldert (b. 27 June 1817, bap. 1 July 1817 and d. 7 October 1904, Brooklyn, NY (240 Schermerhorn St.), bur. 16 October 1904 Green Wood Cemetery. She is d/o Cornelius and Margaret (Ryder) Eldert. They had four children. (See obit. on Margaret  below.)

Van Wicklen -- Margaret Van Wicklen, who died suddenly at her residence, 240 Schermerhorn Street, on Saturday of heart failure, was born in Brooklyn eighty-seven years ago and had always resided here. The funeral services will be held tonight at her late residence, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock. She is survived by two daughters.

NOTE: Maria Wyckoff Van Wicklen, d/o Evert and Margaret, b. in Woodhaven, L.I. 30 June 1855. He(?) is in ice business and res. in Brooklyn. No children. (Is this "Leety" shown on 1870 NYC census age 15 = b. 1855.) Children from 1870 census shows Evart 50 and Margaret 50 and Lilie Eldred (sic) b. 13 November 1831, d. 10 January 1837 not in census but in diagram of lot 50 of the Cypress Hills Cemetery drawn by Frederick Miller Van Wicklen, Jr. These dates are previous to the date of their marriage (23 October 1844 Jamaica RDC) (email submitted 27 June 2000, Michael Wolfe)

1870 US Census for Huntington, Suffolk, NY lists Evart Van Wicklen, 50, farmer, with Margaret, 50, keeping house, and Elbert, 23, Bookkeeper, Sophy, 20, Maria, 19, and Letty, 15. All b. NY
